Clearly, writing drew me in at an early age . . . specifically, first or second grade.
I find it difficult to believe I came up with this myself (even though there was a lovely pussy willow tree in the backyard of the house I grew up in), but I also have a hard time envisioning a teacher picking out this poem for the class to write. In either case, it must have triggered a lively discussion in the teachers’ lounge.
Happy Monday.
Very impressive, April. I don’t remember ever writing anything that rhymed.
And I’ll bet you never wrote about a pussy willow either, Pat. I think I probably have that market cornered.
Beautiful, April. Presages your current outstanding progress as a writer. And a very nice rhyme as well. My daughter, in 3rd grade, wrote an essay, all fiction and fantasy with gods and demons, on the origin of disease. And now, 45 years later, with her doctorate in epidemiology, she works for the Department of State heading up our malaria control efforts in Africa. Was her early essay a foretelling too?
Wow, good for her! Sounds like she knew her path early on. I’m happy to say, however, that this early offering of mine, is not a precursor to my current work.
I am a bit more comfortable commenting on your Wednesday writing prompts than I am with this one. But since your early work did ask, “What do you think of that?” Umm, well . . . squirrel!!
Haha! I understand, Dean. I figured folks could use a laugh on this Monday morning.
